4. Do you work with sports-related or work-related injuries?
Sport related injuries and/or extremity injuries are often treated by Chiropractors. Common non-spinal
injuries that are successfully treated by chiropractors include, but are not limited to:
Rotator cuff strains
Shoulder bursitis
Shoulder impingement syndrome
Frozen shoulder
Carpal tunnel syndromes
Elbow injuries (little leaguer’s elbow, golfer’s elbow)
Wrist sprains
Rib injuries
Knee sprains
Ankle sprains
Muscle pulls
Treatment of extremities may involve use of electro modalities (such as e-stim, ultrasound, and cold laser
therapy), taping, extremity adjustments, and prescriptive exercise and rehabilitative exercises focusing on
strengthening, endurance, and joint proprioception.) Several professional athletes have attributed much of
their success and longevity in sport to chiropractic. A few of these athletes include Lance Armstrong, Joe
Montana, and Tiger Woods
6. Do I need to see a Chiropractor forever? No, if the patient follows the prescribed treatment plan the patient should get
better. If patient is not getting better and following the treatment plan, the doctor will decide if continuing treatment is
necessary and may refer the patient out to a specialist. Some patients like to see a Chiropractor one time a month for
maintenance and feel that this is more effective than taking over the counter medications to ease headaches, muscle pain etc.
7. What can I expect on my first visit? A thorough evaluation of health, chief complaint, X-rays only if needed, and treatment. The
first visit please allow 45 minutes to one hour from start to finish.
