Athens Chiropractic Healthcare
Dr. Groft received his doctor of chiropractic degree magna
cum laude from Western States Chiropractic College in
Portland, Oregon in 2002. His Bachelor of Arts degree in
biology was completed at Franklin and Marshall College of
Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1997. In 1998 he received his
secondary education certificate from Millersville University of
Millersville, Pennsylvania.
While at F&M Dr. Groft competed in intercollegiate athletics at
the Division I level as a three year starter and senior captain
of the Diplomat wrestling team.
Following his undergraduate studies Dr. Groft remained in education teaching high school biology and
earth science at Lancaster Catholic High School, Lancaster Pennsylvania for several years. During his
time at Lancaster Catholic Dr. Groft worked with his students as both assistant varsity wrestling and
football coach.
Following graduation from Western States Chiropractic College, Dr. Groft practiced as an associate in
Monterey, California, after which he and his wife moved to Athens Georgia to build a practice. He first
opened his doors in Athens May of 2004. During his short time in Athens he has built some great
relationships with local doctors of chiropractic, medicine, and osteopathy to better serve his patients.
Additionally, Dr. Groft teaches Anatomy/Physiology at Athens Technical College.
Athens Chiropractic Healthcare is a general family practice that also has a special focus on
backpain/disc herniations, sports related injuries, performance, and physical rehabilitation. Dr. Groft
has had extensive training in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.
Upon initial presentation patients receive detailed chief complaint, past health, and family health
histories. Following consultations a detailed exam consisting of postural and gate analysis is
combined with standard chiropractic, neurological, and /or orthopedic based exam findings to present
the patient with a working diagnosis of their health problem or injury. Following the exam, clinical
decisions will be made pertaining to the need for diagnostic imaging or referral to a health care
specialist.
